About MATES Migration Scheme

Department of Home Affairs, Government of Australia has launched MATES Migration Scheme under which MATES stands for Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-professionals Scheme. This scheme aims to encourage mutually-beneficial skills and knowledge transfer between Australia and India. This scheme enables the temporary mobility of Indian university graduates and early career professionals. The Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-professionals Scheme offers a new mobility pathway for 3,000 Indian graduates and early career professionals. Selected beneficiaries can reside and work in Australia for up to two years without Australian employer sponsorship and with family sponsorship available under this scheme. Under this scheme Indian graduates and early career professionals with knowledge and skill in specific fields of study will be offered a new temporary mobility pathway to live and work in Australia.

Eligibility Criteria

To avail the benefits under the Scheme you should satisfy the following requirements, which are as follows:

• Applicant should be a permanent resident of India.
• Age of the applicant should be 18 to 30 years old at the time of application.
• Applicant should not have previously participated in this scheme.
• Applicant should have proficient English language skills (overall IELTS or equivalent score of at least 6, with a minimum score of 5 for each of the four parts)
• Applicant should have graduated within 2 years from an eligible educational institution at the time of application
• Applicant should hold a qualification (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in one of the following:

• engineering
• Information Communications Technology (ICT)
• artificial intelligence (AI)
