Objective Of USTTAD Scheme

The main objective of the scheme is to guide the next generation of master craftsmen and artisans in the field of traditional arts and crafts while also enhancing the capacity of these artists. Minority traditional arts and crafts will continue to exist because of this scheme. In addition, this program will support the establishment of connections between traditional talents and the global market. Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant has to be a member of a recognized minority group.
  • The applicant must be a postgraduate student in textile, leather or carpet design or in a related discipline, with at least 50% of the required grades from a recognized college in order to be eligible for a fellowship.
  • The applicant must be enrolled at a university or other institution for a standard program and M.Phil or a PHD.
  • The applicant’s age should not exceed 35 years old.
  • A reserve of 3% of the yearly objective will go to female candidates who identify as minorities.

Eligibility Criteria Of PIA’s

  • Societies must have been registered under the Societies Registration Act for a minimum of three years and they must have experience running conventional skill development courses with proven market linkages.
  • Any privately recognized or registered professional institution with a minimum of three years of experience in an industry or association of industries with established market linkages.
  • Any Central or State Government institution including universities, public sector businesses and training facilities.

Eligible Trainees And Beneficiaries Under USTTAD Scheme

  • Minority communities should receive training.
  • 25% of the candidates from non-minority committee BPL families will also be taken into consideration.
  • Also reserved are 3% of seats for persons with disabilities who are members of minority groups.
  • The trainee should be between the ages of 14 and 45.
  • Minority members with disabilities will be eligible for a modification of the upper age restriction.
  • Class 5th grade is the minimal educational need for the course.
  • For those with disabilities, the minimal educational requirement is less high.
  • The benefits of this scheme will be extended to other family members if they meet the qualifying requirements.

Duration Of Course Curriculum

  • The course has a minimum duration of two months and a maximum duration of one year.
  • The program’s length and content will be determined by the MSDE, DC Handicrafts, Sectoral Export Promotion Council or Development Knowledge Partners modules.
  • The training will also involve instruction in soft skills, IT, spoken English and other areas.
  • There will be a maximum of six training days per week and 24-26 training days per month.
  • There will be a minimum of five hours of training.
  • The scheme will also involve the formation of producer enterprises and self-help organizations.

Pattern Of Funding

  • The 100% Central sector USTTAD Scheme will be carried out by the Ministry through project implementation organizations.
  • The Ministry will pay the costs of projects that are authorized in accordance with the specified financial guidelines.
  • The project implementation agency will receive an incentive payment equal to 2% of the project cost.

  • The senior research fellow rates will be applied based on the University Grant Commission.
  • The fellowship grant is valid for 3 years in total.
  • For the first and second years, a fellowship of Rs. 18,000 per month would be awarded.
  • A monthly payment of Rs 20,000 will be made during the third year.
  • With the consent of the appropriate authorities, the fellowship may be extended for an additional year at a rate of Rs 20,000 per month if the study is not finished in three years.
  • The beneficiary’s bank account will receive a yearly transfer of funds from the ministry.

USTTAD SAMMAN To Outstanding Master Craftspersons And Artisans/Culinary Experts

The USTTAD Samman Award for Craftsmanship was instituted in 2017. This prize is given to artisans who demonstrate exceptional contributions, skill and advancement in their field. This prize is given out every year by ten craft men. Their excitement and productivity in the trade will increase as a result of this recognition.
