Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India has introduced UDID Card. UDID Card stands for Unique Disability ID Card. The program is initiated for the welfare of disabled people. The aim of the Card is to encourage transparency and efficiency in the system of delivering the government benefits to the person with disabilities. This card has been introduced to create a National Database for Persons with Disabilities across the country. Under this program, certificates of disability and Unique Disability Identity Cards will be issued to the Persons with Disabilities. The certificate and card will be issued through competent medical authorities notified by respective State Governments/Union Territories.
