Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendra Rajnikant Patel has taken the initiative to launch the Shramik Basera Scheme for the construction workers and labourers. The aim of the government to launch the scheme is to provide housing facility to the construction workers. Under this scheme, the state government will provide temporary accommodation to labourers at a token rent of Rs. 5 per day. Once the project under 17 sites will complete, the government will provide rented housing facility to more than 15,000 construction labourers.
According to the sources, the state government aims to construct similar housing facilities for 3 lakh construction labourers across the state in the next three years at the cost of Rs. 1,500 Crore. The rent for the housing facility will be Rs. 5 per day and it will be free for the children of labourers of up to six years.
