Chief Minister of Maharashtra State Mr. Eknath Shinde has released the programme in the name of Kanyadan Yojana for the women of the state. Under this scheme the government will provide financial assistance of Rs. 25,000/- to all the newly married couples. The aim of the program is to empower the women by providing them the financial assistance for marriage. State government said that the financial assistance under the scheme will be increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000. The aim of the government to release the program is to combine Maharashtra’s Nomadic Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Freed Castes, Special Backward Classes and Tribals into common society by reducing their economic, social and educational disadvantages.

- Applicant should be a women to avail the benefit under this program.
- Age of the girl who is getting married should be 18 years old or above.
- Age of the prospective groom must be 21 years old at least.
- Caste certificate is expected to be issued by a competent and authorized officer.
- This grant will be for the first marriage of the bride and groom.
- Both or one of the bride/groom should belong to Scheduled Castes (including neo-Buddhists), Scheduled Castes, Nomadic Tribes and Special Backward Classes.
