Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Assembly Mr. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao has launched a wonderful scheme in 2014 for SC/ ST/ BC/ EBC girls which is named as Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme. Under this scheme financial assistance of up to Rs. 1,00,116 will be provided to the bride’s family for the marriage of Girl. As we know that marriage is a special event in the life of a women and parents of unmarried girls also feel that it is their social responsibility to perform their daughter’s marriage in a dignified manner. There are such families who are unable to bear expenses of their child marriage, keeping an eye on it the state government has come out with this wonderful scheme to help such families.

Objectives Of Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme
The objectives of the Scheme are as follows:
- The primary objective of launching the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to those families who are unable to bear expenses of their girl marriage.
- The aim of the government under this scheme is to support poor families so that they can perform their daughter’s marriage in a dignified manner.
- This scheme aims to prevent child marriage as well as the dropout from the school.
Benefits & Features Of Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme
Here are some benefits & features of the Scheme, which are as follows:
- This Scheme will be beneficial for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Backward Class and Economy Backward Class categories.
- Financial assistance will be provided to all the eligible candidates of the Telangana state.
- In starting of the scheme, when the project was first launched, the government provided the financial assistance of Rs. 51,000.
- Then in 2017 government provided the financial assistance of Rs. 75,116.
- Then in 2018 government provided the financial assistance of Rs. 1,00,116.
- Financial assistance of up to Rs. 1,00,116 will be provided for the marriage of girl.
- This scheme will be helpful in preventing the child marriage.
- This scheme will also help the children to study further and children will not dropout from the school if they want to avail the benefits of such schemes in future.
- One month before the wedding date, the Mee Seva Kendra should receive an application form from an eligible young girl.
Eligibility Criteria
To avail the benefits under the Scheme you should satisfy the following requirements, which are as follows:
- Applicant should be a permanent resident of Telangana State.
- Applicant should belong to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Backward Class and Economy Backward Class Community.
- Age of the bride and groom should be:
- Bride: Minimum 18 years
- Bridegroom: Minimum 21 years
- Annual family income of the applicant should be less than Rs. 2 Lakh.

- “REGISTRATION FORM FOR KALYANA LAKSHMI PATHAKAM” will appear on your screen.
- Fill the required details of bride and bridegroom as asked in the form such as name , Aadhaar number, educational qualification and much more.
- Attach all the relevant documents such as photo, age proof etc.
