The Government of Haryana has taken the initiative to introduce a new and unique program for the citizens of their state to breathe well and stay healthy. The state government has launched Van Mitra Scheme under which the government will increase greenery in non-forest land. The scheme is designed to encourage the community to participate in tree-plantation activities on non-forest land. The scheme allows each “Van Mitra” to plant up to 1,000 saplings which will lead them to avail the financial incentive from the government.
All applicants who successfully dig pits, geotag and upload photograph on Van Mitra Portal will receive Rs. 20 per pit. After the collection of plants from forest nurseries and planting them on the dug up pits, geotag and upload photographs on portal, the Van Mitras will receive incentive of Rs. 30 per plant which will be directly transferred to their bank account. About Van Mitra Scheme
Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar has launched Van Mitra Scheme to promote the participation of communities in tree plantation. The scheme aims to empower local communities in increasing tree cover across the state which will enhance the survival rate of newly planted trees and will promote the planting of trees outside forest zones. The initial phase of the scheme will take the support of 7,500 participants from economically weaker sections. Pit digging and plantation along with geotagging has been started from 15th July and will ends on 31st August. Maintenance and protection of plantation should be done from September to March. Then again maintenance and protection of plantation should be done in the following 2nd, 3rd and 4th year.
On maintenance and protection of plantation in first year, Van Mitras will get Rs. 10 per surviving sapling in the first week of every following month. In second year Rs. 8, in third year Rs. 5 and in fourth year Rs. 3 per surviving sapling in the first week of every following month will be the incentive.
