About Har Ghar Jal scheme
Since August, 2019, The Central Government of India in partnership with State Governments is implementing the Har Ghar Jal scheme under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to provide tap water supply to every rural household across the country by 2024. Since the launch of the mission more than 15 crore rural households have been provided tap water connections. A total of 3.23 crore (17 per cent) rural households were reported to have tap water connections at the time of announcement of Jal Jeevan Mission in August 2019 according to the government data.
Since then many rural households have been provided the tap water connections. The citizens who are facing the issues of water supply and needed water for drinking and for various uses in their homes can now avail the benefit of the mission.
