Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin, encouraged on Saturday for popular support of government initiatives to increase forest cover and preserve the environment for future generations. He called for cooperation in addressing the difficulties posed by climate change. Over the next ten years, a massive tree planting campaign involving all spheres of society, governmental and private organizations and individuals will be launched to plant a variety of indigenous trees.

In the current year 2024-2025, 8, 804,25 seedlings will be planted around the district as part of the Green Tamil Nadu Mission. There were 2.80 crore seedlings raised by private nurseries and nonprofits. 2.80 billion saplings have been cultivated specifically for this purpose in order to measure seedling planting and survival rates geotagged data is then combined with information on each planting location. To further help increase the amount of forest cover, e-vehicles have been made available to forest field workers.
