The Digital India Internship Scheme offers students the opportunity to obtain practical job experience under the guidance of an experienced and competent mentor or supervisor. Through an internship, a student can gain first-hand, hands-on experience in the workplace while being supervised by a competent and experienced mentor or supervisor.   • If an intern does well and his mentor or supervisor certifies it, he would get a token monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000.
  • The interns will obtain credentials from the Ministry upon the conclusion of their internship and the submission of their report, which has been properly countersigned and authorized by the appropriate authority.

Eligibility Criteria

Some of the eligibility criteria of this scheme is given below:

  • Indian students enrolled in recognized Indian institutions who are studying the following programs and who scored at least 60% on their most recent degree or diploma exam:
    • Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), Electronics & Communications (EC), Electronics/Electrical B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech
    • MBA (Finance) OR M.Sc. (Electronics) and MBA (Finance) OR M.Sc. (CS/IT/Electronics/Electronics) MCA/DOEACC B level LL. B B.E/B. Tech (Electronics & Communications (EC)/Electronics) and MBA (Finance).
  • Students who are in their last semester or who will graduate in the summer of 2022 are not eligible for the internship. The only candidates will be those who were enrolled the year before.
  • Only applicants who are enrolled as BA (Economics (H)), BCom (H)/M. Com or MBA (Finance, International Business) students will be given consideration for admission to the internship program in the Measurement of Digital Economy (DE)/G20 DE Measurement framework.
  • The only candidates for internships in the field of Cyber Laws would be LL.B students.
  • For internships with the National Language Translation Mission, three seats are set out for students with technical degrees and three for students with an economics degree. The degrees listed below would fall under this category:
  • Economics majors: B.Sc, B.A, B.Com, or B.E, B. Tech or MCA

Selection Process

  • The organisations, committees and departments within each domain will choose the interns from a shortlist.
  • To choose the interns, in-person or Skype interviews may be conducted if deemed necessary. Attending the in-person interview will not result in TA or DA for the candidates. The website would provide a roster of the selected candidates.

Mode

The kind of internship, whether online or in-person, will be decided by the appropriate mentor or supervisor depending on the criteria. Interns are generally required to be on Ministry property from 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m unless their mentor or supervisor explicitly waives this requirement in writing.
