About Amarnath Yatra

The Holy Amarnath Shrine is managed by Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) which was constituted by an Act of Jammu & Kashmir State Legislature in 2000. Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, UT of Jammu & Kashmir is the Chairman of Shrine Board. This is one of the most challenging and popular pilgrimages in India and is very important for Hindu Devotees. Amarnath Cave is located in Kashmir Valley at the height of about 13,000 ft above sea level which attracts thousands of pilgrims every year. The Yatra will start from 01 July 2024 and will end on 19 August 2024. The limit of pilgrims per day will be 10,000 on the route of this Yatra. The registration of this Yatra has started from 17 April 2024 and the registration fees is Rs. 100.

  • Through this program as many as Indian Citizens can perform religious journey.

  • The limit of pilgrims per day will be 10,000 on the route of this Yatra.
  • The cave is located at an altitude of 3,888 metre which is about 141 km from Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir and reached through Pahalgam town.
  • Pilgrims can select the traditional 48 km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district or they can select the shorter but steeper route which is 14 km long which is Baltal route in Ganderbal District.

Eligibility Criteria

To avail the benefit under Amarnath Yatra, you should fulfil these eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants should be a permanent citizen of India.
  • Age of the pilgrim should be between 13 to 70 years old, anyone younger or older will not be allowed.
  • There should be a medical certificate issued by an authorized hospital/ doctor in your state.
  • Photo must be .JPEG or .JPG only and the size should be less than 1MB.
  • Medical certificate must be uploaded in .PDF format while registering and the size should be less than 1MB.
  • Pregnant woman more than 6 weeks of pregnancy aren’t allowed.
  • Carry the original Photo ID and Medical Certificate while travelling.

Registration Procedure For Amarnath Yatra

Registration will be on a first come first serve basis, to register for Amarnath Yatraplease follow the below mentioned steps:

  • Each Yatri must submit an application form which is Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) and the necessary documentation to receive the Yatra permit.
  • These forms will also be freely accessible at the bank’s registration branch.
  • Visit the Official Website at jksasb.nic.in to register online.
  • Fill the registration form and attach all the relevant documents such as photo ID and medical certificate etc.
  • Since 2014, the SASB has also initiated a ‘group registration scheme’ for pilgrims intending to travel with friends, family or neighbors.
