Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme

The Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme formerly known as Kalaingar Kaappittu Thittam was introduced on 23 July 2009 with the aim of reducing financial hardship for enrolled families and advancing towards universal health coverage by establishing an effective link with the public health system. The scheme will provide high quality healthcare to eligible individuals through empanelled government and private hospitals.

Through United India Insurance Company, the program would be implemented from January 2022 to January 2027. The programme would reach over 1.37 crore families as of January 2022. In all, 800 government and 900 private empanelled institutions have 1090 operations, 8 follow-up treatments and 52 diagnostic procedures covered under CMCHIS. The policy offers coverage up to Rs.5,00,000 per family per year on a floater basis for the diseases and treatments listed under the scheme. Its goal is to give cashless hospitalization for selected disorders/procedures.
