- The pucca building at the school needs to be in fine shape.
- There has to be an accessible ramp at the school.
- The school needs to prioritize safety.
- For a category to be eligible, the number of students enrolled in Elementary (Class 1-5/1-8) and Senior Secondary (Class 6-12/ 6-10/l-10/1-12) must exceed the state average.
- There should be at least one separate restroom for males and girls at the school.
- A facility for potable drinking water must exist at the school.
- Every instructor needs to have a photo ID card in accordance with current regulations, and the school needs to have a separate area for hand washing.

Criteria For Shortlisting Under PM Shri Stage 3
- Schools that have been shortlisted for stage 1 must apply on the PM SHRI School Selection Portal within the allotted period.
- To be chosen as Pll SHRI Schools, schools in rural regions must have a minimum score of 60%, while schools in urban areas must receive a minimum score of 70%.
- States, UTs, KVS and NVS must physically visit the schools to confirm the claims made by the schools and then they must suggest to the Ministry a list of such schools.
